“Stakeholders” are the individuals, groups, units, and / or organizations within a company that will be impacted by or can affect the outcomes of the proposed project or initiative. This generally includes the project team and sponsors, as well as the departments and employees whose work will somehow change due to the proposed project. Stakeholders can also be those areas of the company which could be involved in some way with the approval and execution of the proposed project, such as finance, legal, IT (if technology-related), HR, purchasing, etc.
