Bersin & Associates becomes Bersin by Deloitte

Thursday, January 03, 2013
Bersin by DeloitteI’m excited to announce that Deloitte Consulting LLP has acquired substantially all the assets of Bersin & Associates, and we are now known as Bersin by Deloitte.

As part of Deloitte Consulting LLP, we will be able to enhance our growth, expand our global reach, and deepen our relationships with clients. This acquisition gives us growth capital, expanded management depth, and ability to leverage and work with Deloitte to help you solve your HR, learning, and talent management challenges.

What this means: deeper, expanded Bersin information and services

Everything you know about Bersin’s rigorous research, tools, information, and services will remain. We will continue to pioneer the development of actionable, practical, research-based tools and information to help you elevate organizational performance through your talent, HR, and management practices.

Our research agenda will expand, even beyond the 11 new subject areas launched in December.  We will develop a family of new analytics and data products. And we will make significant investments in our BersinInsights® information platform, delivering on the intent to “change the way HR and learning professionals work.”

Our goal is to be your “indispensible information source” for relevant, research-based information and tools in many areas of Human Resources. We will continue to focus on our six practice areas (L&D, Talent Management, Leadership, Talent Acquisition, HR, and HR Tools & Technology) and expand our subject areas (read our latest announcement of 11 new subject areas launched in December).

In addition to “more of the same” we will embark on some exciting new initiatives. With help from Deloitte’s analytics teams, we will evolve our Factbooks® into an online benchmarking data service.  Some of you have seen the prototypes of this offering: we already store more than 250 different data elements on many aspects of HR, L&D, recruiting, and talent management.  Later in 2013, you will gain access this data directly through a new set of tools and services.

We plan to significantly expand the BersinInsights® platform. Today more than 450 Fortune 1000 companies already use it daily.  In coming quarters we will launch our new professional development features, an exciting new social system, and greatly enhanced personalization tools. Our goal is to make BersinInsights® the “Information  Terminal” of HR – an indispensable source of information and professional development you use daily to do your job.

What will remain the same

While much will expand and grow, our core focus will remain the same.

  • Our entire team, including our executive team, research organization, sales, and support organization will remain.  We will function as a business unit within Deloitte Consulting LLP.
  • Our WhatWorks® methodology, frameworks, tools, and models will continue to form the foundation of our research. Over time these models will be used by Deloitte consultants around the world.
  • Our strategic services team will continue to provide strategy, technology selection and procurement, and benchmarking services.
  • We will continue to serve as a leading industry analyst, studying the providers of HR and talent management technology, tools, services, and data – and sharing our insights with our members.
  • Our research team will continue to provide our well-known High-Impact® industry studies, including our reports on the LMS market, Talent Management Systems market, HRMS market, and Talent Acquisition market.
  • We will continue to provide our webinars, newsletters, public speaking engagements, and other outreach programs in the coming year.
  • Our research conference, IMPACT: The Business of Talent®, is set to expand. In fact, now is the time to sign up since we expect a sell-out crowd again next year.
And most importantly, our focus on client intimacy and support will continue.

What this means to you

If you are a Bersin member or a regular client and reader of our research, the big difference you will see is a new logo and over time a refreshed design of our materials. You also will see our research become more globalized and deepened in many areas. As we integrate our research into Deloitte’s service offerings, you will be able to obtain direct strategy, technology selection and implementation, and many other services based on our research.

When viewed together, we now offer an integrated spectrum of offerings, including  research, information, data, analyst services, professional development and consulting.

The benefits of being part of Deloitte

One question many people ask us is why Deloitte?

Over the last year we, as an organization, developed tremendous respect for Deloitte. Deloitte is a trusted advisor to businesses around the world with deep experience in analytics and data. Deloitte is a “talent-driven” company as are we. And Deloitte prides itself on intimate client relationships.

What this means to us

For ten years we have focused on delivering high-quality, actionable research and tools in many areas of HR. As our business grew we saw an expanding market opportunity for our membership and services. Deloitte understood this and is helping us grow the offering, reach, and scale of what we do.

When we started this business we established our grounding principles. We are a “problem solving” company that relies on quality, integrity, rigor, and service at our core. “Client intimacy” has been a critical part of our DNA. We developed a culture that is big on “listening” and “delivering value.” We focus on “value” and “impact,”   looking for ways to drive greater benefits to our clients.

All this will continue.

Our leadership team, our analysts, and the rest of our team remain in place, and we are very excited about joining Deloitte.
