Josh Bersin, Principal, CEO,
and Founder
Josh
Bersin is the principal and founder of Bersin & Associates.
He has more than 25 years of experience in corporate solutions,
training, and HR processes. He works closely with
corporate clients and vendors to understand and promote
best practices in enterprise learning, content development,
technology solutions, and corporate talent management.
Josh pioneered the "What Works®" approach
to business process research and focuses on real-world
implementations, lessons-learned, and best-practices which
drive business results.
As Vice President of DigitalThink’s Product Management
and Marketing team, Josh re-architected the company’s
technology platform and re-launched its "Industrial-Strength
E-Learning Platform," creating a new market and significant
new platform revenues for DigitalThink. The resulting
solution enabled the company to secure new opportunities
with larger customers as an end-to-end e-learning solution
provider. While at DigitalThink, Josh executed successful
e-learning rollouts at some of the largest and most visible
enterprises in the market. He was also responsible for
the vision and birth of DigitalThink's "e-briefing"
product - the first PowerPoint-driven e-learning solution.
As Vice President of Marketing and Product Management
at Arista Knowledge Systems, Josh built one of the industry's
most innovative enterprise e-learning products, which
was ultimately sold to DigitalThink in the summer of 2000.
In this role, Josh was responsible for product strategy,
company and product positioning, fundraising, and overall
marketing strategy, and succeeded in bringing the company's
product to market, developing the overall marketing and
sales strategy, and Arista Knowledge Systems’ leadership
in e-learning infrastructure.
As Vice President and Group Director for Data Warehousing
at Sybase, Josh ran product management and product marketing
of the company’s business intelligence products,
developing strategic alliances that generated major new
revenue streams for Sybase. He also ran the Sybase business
development group that established strategic OEM relationships
with platform providers like Sun, IBM, HP, Compaq and
Digital.
Prior to working at Sybase, Josh spent ten years at IBM
in a variety of sales, technical, and management roles
- focused on enterprise solutions in software and hardware.
He was the Marketing Launch Management for the IBM RISC
System/6000, IBM's flagship product in the UNIX marketplace.
Josh served as a 100% club sales representative, a senior
systems engineer, and a national marketing manager establishing
IBM in the UNIX marketplace.
Josh has been invited to speak at a wide variety of trade
shows and industry conferences, bringing his expertise
to CLO Symposium events, Techlearn, OnlineLearning, VNU
Learning, HR Executive, Knowledge Management World, and
DCI Data Warehousing World. Josh’s contributions
to these events have centered around his expertise in
enterprise learning, human capital strategy, product strategy,
marketing, enterprise sales and enterprise solutions.
Josh’s most recent publications include many articles
in CLO, ASTD, HR Executive, Training Magazine, and Learning
& Training Innovations, where he describes the process
for linking e-learning to measurable business initiatives.
He is the author of "The
Blended Learning Book" published
by Wiley/Pfeiffer.
Chris Howard, Principal Analyst
Chris
Howard is a principal analyst at Bersin & Associates.
Truly one of the pioneers of elearning industry,
Chris has an extensive background in learning and enterprise
systems technology.
In 1997, he was one of the original developers involved
in bringing Pathware, the first standards-compliant learning
management system, to market. The Pathware technology
was ultimately sold to Macromedia, where Chris became
responsible for learning product management. When
the technology was resold to IBM, Chris helped plan IBM’s
strategy to enter the e-learning market.
At Convergys (formerly DigitalThink), Chris was responsible
for learning management strategy and worked on some of
the company's largest and most successful customer implementations.
His product strategy resulted in DigitalThink deploying
some of the largest e-learning programs in the marketplace.
Over the last five years, Chris has worked with hundreds
of customers in the deployment of online learning solutions.
He is recognized as an industry leader on the unique infrastructure
issues that companies face as they embrace new paradigms
for distributing and managing knowledge. Recently
Chris has published the "7-step approach to selecting
an LMS," our "Best-practices in Leadership Training",
"Application Simulations: What Works,"
and "Content Integration Challenges."
Chris is a regular speaker at industry conferences including
Online Learning, Training, and ASTD. He holds a B.S. in
computer science and an M.B.A. from the University of
Houston.

Leighanne
Levensaler, Principal Analyst

As a Principal Analyst with Bersin & Associates, Leighanne
directs the company’s research and advisory services
in Talent Management. Leighanne has over 10
years consulting experience with Fortune 1000 companies
leading the development learning strategies, learning
and performance solutions, and implementing integrated
talent development systems.
Prior to joining Bersin & Associates, Leighanne led
the progressive and highly regarded Learning Consulting
Practice at SystemLink Enterprise Solutions. The
practice focused on integrating and aligning global learning
and performance solutions for Fortune 1000 companies.
Prior to SystemLink, Leighanne served as the Solution
Design Manager at SmartForce where she was responsible
for a team of Solution Architects who worked to design
integrated learning solutions.
Leighanne began her career creating and aligning organizational
design models for companies undergoing mergers, acquisitions,
and global expansions. At Edutrek International/AUI,
she was the Director of Organizational Development and
for brief time, she served as a Human Resources Consultant
at Deloitte Consulting.
Leighanne frequently contributes to industry publications,
facilitates public workshops, and presents at industry
conferences. Leighanne holds a M.B.A and a Master's
degree in Human Resource Development from The University
of Georgia and Georgia State University, and a Bachelor
of Arts from Clemson University. She is a certified Project
Management Professional (PMP) as well as an active member
of the American Society of Training and Development and
the Society of Human Resource Management.

Karen
O'Leonard, Principal Analyst
Karen
is a senior analyst at Bersin & Associates and is
the research director for our primary research and industry
studies. She had been consulting with several new
e-learning companies before coming to our team in 2002.
Her focus area at Bersin & Associates is primary research,
analysis, and marketing.
Karen spent 12 years as a senior Silicon Valley marketing
executive and has extensive experience in market research,
product management, and acquisitions. With an outstanding
record of new product introductions for consumer and enterprise
software products, she understands the process of product
development, customer research, and marketing communications.
At eBay, Karen was responsible for maximizing multi-million
dollar investments for the company’s business units.
As a member of the M&A team, she drove the transition
strategy, planning, and implementation for eBay’s
acquisitions.
As a senior product line manager for several Java™
technologies at Sun, Karen launched nine software products
worldwide. She was responsible for product strategy and
roadmap and managing all inbound and outbound marketing
initiatives. These products were licensed by Fortune 100
companies in the consumer electronics and telecommunications
industries.
At Apple, Karen designed qualitative and quantitative
research studies for Apple product teams, resulting in
several new product introductions and product enhancements
to existing hardware and software product lines. She performed
extensive research with Apple's customers in all business
and consumer segments which served as a basis for Apple's
product strategy and marketing campaigns.
Karen was the lead researcher for our highly acclaimed
studies The Economics of Training Outsourcing,
an industry study detailing the economic benefits of outsourcing
technology and training operations, and E-Learning
Development Tools: What Works™ a study of the
size, growth rate, market players, and dynamics of the
e-learning content development marketplace. Karen

Kim
Lamoureux, Senior Analyst
Kim Lamoureux is a senior analyst at Bersin & Associates
and directs the company’s research in management
and leadership development. Kim has more than a
decade of experience in human resources and talent management
that includes managing worldwide leadership programs,
executive education, and leading cross-functional teams.
Kim's functional areas of expertise include senior leadership
training, career development, 360° feedback, performance
management, succession planning and business process improvement.
Prior to joining Bersin & Associates, Kim held several
training and development management positions at Textron
Inc., an $11B global multi-industry manufacturer and service
provider. Most recently, she was manager of leadership
development and training and was responsible for the design,
development, implementation and evaluation of global leadership
and professional development programs and processes.
Kim was a primary contributor in establishing Textron’s
corporate university and defining a training administration
outsourcing solution.
Kim holds a bachelor's degree in human resource management
from Rhode Island College and is an active member of the
American Society for Training and Development.

Mike
Cooke, Vice President of Sales and Client Service
Mike Cooke has over 11 years of experience in the e-Learning
and Training industry. As Director of Sales and
Client Services, Mike oversees sales, strategic services,
company-wide business development initiatives and Bersin’s
client support functions.
Prior to joining Bersin & Associates, Mike was CEO
of Dynamic Minds, a custom developer of e-Learning programs
and was Director of Sales for the e-Learning division
of Oddcast, a media technology company based in Manhattan.

Linda Galloway,
Vice President of Marketing
Linda Galloway has more than 20 years of experience in
all aspects of technology marketing and public relations.
She has solid relationships with editors and reporters
from all key industry publications – from CLO to
HR Executive, producers of major industry events, and
HR and learning executives from companies of in all industry
segments.
Prior to joining Bersin & Associates, Linda was president
of Apollo Associates, a PR and marketing consulting firm
which specialized in working with companies in the corporate
learning market. Over the last six years, Linda
has worked with a variety of companies, including: Articulate,
SkillSoft, NetDimensions, NetG, Exxceed, Expertus, Insight
Educational Consulting, Genesys Software, Books24x7, SocratEase,
Scientific Computing Associates, Intelliquest, ZooLogic,
and WatchIT.com.
Prior to joining the corporate learning and HR industry,
Linda spent three years (1997 to 2000) as Vice President
of marketing for Meta Group, an IT a research and consulting
firm (bought by Gartner in 2005). During her tenure,
she revamped the company’s brand, increased the
company’s awareness through public relations, and
expanded the company’s event strategy.
Linda has also held marketing management positions for
On-Line Software, Prentice Hall Software, KnowledgeWare,
Datalogix (acquired by Oracle), and EIS International.
Linda has a B.A. in English from Georgia State University
and a master’s degree in journalism from University
of Georgia.

Stacey Harris,
Director of Strategic Services

Stacey Harris is the Director of Bersin & Associates'
Strategic Services organization. Stacey's team helps our
clients to leverage our WhatWorks® research and benchmarking
data to address our research members’ specific talent
management and enterprise learning strategy and planning
requirements.
Stacey has over 13 years in performance consulting, learning
and development, and HR industries. Prior to joining Bersin
and Associate, Stacey held key positions leading the enterprise-wide
learning and organizational effectiveness functions within
the retail industry at JoAnn Fabric and Craft stores and
franchised sales industry at Management Recruiters International.
In these positions Stacey’s innovative work has
been recognized in profile articles in Chief Learning
Officer and Training Magazine.
Additionally, Stacey designed, developed, and implemented
learning solutions for organizations such as KeyCorp,
Kent State University, Inventory Solutions, and Brulant’s
HR organization. Her background includes experience leading
enterprise-wide change management initiatives and technology
implementations, business process alignments, and the
design and implementation of strategic learning solutions.
Stacey has been asked to be a guest speaker at several
industry conferences on her innovative experiential and
blended learning programs where she emphasizes the importance
of integrating learning and development into the workflow
of organizations. She holds an M.Ed in Instructional Technology,
from Kent State University and a Bachelors degree in Communications/Journalism
from Ashland University.

Al Johnson,
Senior Advisory Consultant

Al has more than 20 years of experience in human resource management, learning and development, talent management systems, and performance consulting. Prior to joining Bersin & Associates, Al managed global and enterprise learning, performance, and HR change management initiatives for Eastman Kodak, Pitney Bowes, and Danka Corporation. His work has been recognized and awarded as both innovative and results-driven, with a focus on linking talent management to business strategy and goals.
Al has successfully leveraged learning and talent technologies to improve business performance and employee development. His experience includes the implementation of global integrated talent management systems, including performance, succession, learning, competency, recruitment, and content management. He has spearheaded enterprise elearning, learning technologies, virtual classroom, and blended learning solutions.
In human resource management positions with Eastman Kodak, VehiCare Corporation, and Pitney Bowes, Al provided employee engagement, organizational development, talent acquisition, performance management, and succession planning services. He has also provided independent consulting services in recruitment, enterprise learning, process reengineering, and technology strategy development for leading organizations, including Wegmans Food Markets and the Boston Globe.
Al holds a bachelor of arts degree from the State University of New York.

Barb
Arth, Senior Advisory Consultant
Barb has more than 15 years of experience as a senior
learning executive and consultant, with experience in
traditional, e-learning, and blended learning strategies
as well as leadership development solutions, employee
engagement, the instructional design process and performance
management. She has a strong background in developing
and implementing measurement tools including balanced
scorecards and is accomplished in partnering with senior
leaders to craft performance improvement strategy.
Arth has worked with Fortune 500 companies on a wide
variety of learning and talent-related initiatives, such
as the development and delivery of competency-based curricula,
job role development linked to critical business goals,
global leadership development models.
Prior to joining Bersin & Associates, Arth held senior
global learning and leadership development management
positions with LexisNexis, United Airlines, Owens Corning
Corporation, and Motorola. She also has held senior management
and consulting roles with Arthur Andersen, LearnShare,
and Thomson NetG.
Arth holds a bachelor of science degree from the University
of Illinois and a master of business administration from
Keller Graduate School of Management. She is currently
pursing her PhD in clinical psychology. Throughout her
career, Arth has been recognized for excellence, with
awards such as the Owens Corning Human Resources Leadership
Development Excellence Award (2001), the United Airlines
Annual Division Award for Training Program Excellence
(1996), and the Sterling Who’s Who Worldwide of
Business Executives (1994-1996).

Director of Finance and Operations
Heather Stewart is our Director of Finance and Operations.
She focuses on maintaining Bersin & Associates financial,
HR, and other internal operations.
Heather has more than 16 years of international experience
in finance and accounting and has practiced accounting
in six countries among a wide variety of industries.
Heather's experience includes operations management in
the marine and retail industries, where she brings a wealth
of experience in client service, support, and operations.
Heather has a degree in Accounting from South Africa
and an MBA in Accounting from the Trinity College and
University in England. She has lived and sailed
worldwide from South Africa to Brazil, the Caribbean,
Columbia, Panama, Costa Rica, Mexico, and California.
